I love: Diane Arbus

I was 14 years old. Living in Toronto, at BSS, the boarding school where my Mum was sent (banished?) when she was in her teens. I was so impressionable, so unworldly, and so profoundly lost. I saw this photograph and I fell head over heels for a woman named Diane Arbus.

She infuses her work with delicate humor and dark self deprecation.

I think it was love at first sight, for me, because with rare exception she photographed people. She focuses on the unique and the individual, specifically people found on society’s fringes.

Recently there was a movie about her, called FUR? Did anyone see it?
Is it worth seeing?

I don't want to subject myself to any view of Diane Arbus
that differs from my 14 year old star vision.
