nostalgic for my days of unemployment and post college graduation-bliss... I long for the days of "theme-months." I also yearn for the freedom with which I used to post on here, pre-stalker and pre-professional life...
... but ah well, so is life, on and on and on until we pause to drink some lemonade.
back to my cublet.

times are a'changing...
Clouds Gathering
It seemed the kind of life we wanted.
Wild strawberries and cream in the morning.
Sunlight in every room.
The two of us walking by the sea naked.
Some evenings, however, we found ourselves
Unsure of what comes next.
Like tragic actors in a theater on fire,
With birds circling over our heads,
The dark pines strangely still,
Each rock we stepped on bloodied by the sunset.
We were back on our terrace sipping wine.
Why always this hint of an unhappy ending?
Clouds of almost human appearance
Gathering on the horizon, but the rest lovely
With the air so mild and the sea untroubled.
The night suddenly upon us, a starless night.
You lighting a candle, carrying it naked
Into our bedroom and blowing it out quickly.
The dark pines and grasses strangely still.
Charles Simic
intuition, intellect, confused.

Notes from the Cloud Messenger
Have a great & safe weekend, everyone!
“Most people don't have any idea about all the complicated life going on inside a hive. Bees have a secret life we don't know anything about.”
August said, "Listen to me now, Lily. I'm going to tell you something I want you always to remember, all right?"
Her face had grown serious. Intent. Her eyes did not blink.
"All right," I said, and I felt something electric slide down my spine.
"Our Lady is not some magical being out there somewhere, like a fairy godmother. She's not the statue in the parlor. She's something inside of you. Do you understand what I'm telling you?"
"Our Lady is inside me," I repeated, not sure I did.
"You have to find a mother inside yourself. We all do. Even if we already have a mother, we still have to find this part of ourselves inside."
Just finished this book... engaging story, but predictable, too typical - I felt as though I had read it before... have any of you read it? What did you think?

Kathleen @ Invisible Keepsakes recently posted a list of her favorite books - books she considers must reads. From her entry & More About the Song I have devised a list of books I would like to get through come the new year.
Have any of you read any of these, do you have any yays, nays, or comments? anything would be very much appreciated : )

long as I can see.

Hold on to what is good even if it is a handful of earth.
Hold on to what you believe even if it is a tree which stands by itself.
Hold on to what you must do even if it is a long way from here.
Hold on to life even when it is easier letting go.
Hold on to my hand even when I have gone away from you.
Pueblo Blessing.
can't remember where I got this, but I think wayfaring wanderer...
Tomorrow I am headed to San Francisco, visiting my dear little sister (above)... I would like to keep my head where my feet are, I would like to wish myself a happy trip... and of course I will be writing from the road.
goodnight.

writing, writing, writing.
I just ordered these from a photographer named Maditi... we have been conversing through email - she is such a sweet, lovely woman! Find her work here & and find her blog here!

what does writing mean to all of you?
my writing is:
joy,
prayer,
confession,
and grocery list.
seeing,
hearing,
knowing,
and complaint to AT&T.
here,
now,
there,
and en route to your computer screen.
I used to write because I thought I could do nothing else. Now I write because I can do nothing else - passion won't permit me the wiggle room.
Words, once they are printed, have a life of their own.creating as responsibility... this must be a constant reminder.
- Carol Burnett
