Hmm... maybe you could volunteer? You know reading to kids, or to older folks? Or if you're wanting to stay at home and do something reorganize your cd/dvd collection by color and name? Lol.
with your skills as a writer, i would love to see something video. a screenplay, docu., or even something more visceral, a slideshow set to tunes. there are many ways to write a video, the words, the visuals, edits. its easier than ever today, too. If you have a mac, it comes with iMovie. If you have PC, it probably comes with some sort of video editing software too. Or you could turn to macaroni sculptures... the forgotten art, as i call it.
You should try a paint chip muriel/portrate like my mother's. Try creating an image of Sir Sampson. Ok, that might be complicated. You should definetely do something with a summer theme that will adorn your new living space in San Francisco. I will then be able to see it everyday and compliment you on it.
Decoupage!! Buy a small old piece of furniture at a junk store (a table, hard suitcase, whatever), some cheap brushes and a large jar of MODPOGE. All April you can save small interesting things you come across like ads, photos, fabric pieces, coasters, wrapping paper, flattened match book covers, tickets etc. Then paint them onto the furniture with the MODPOGE, making sure front and back of the added item is covered. Each layer will look milky but let it dry clear before you add more. This is easy but oddly satisfying ... love mumzolla (oh and then take a picture)
this isn't really a project, but it just came into mind:
Every day four four weeks (tomorrow till may 1st) listen to the same song at the same time of day and spritz the same scent. Make sure the song and perfume are unique, not something you've already had in your routine. Then you can leave them be until say July and imagine how strong the scent/music association will be! You'll always remember May 2008.
Another weirdo thing to do: rate each day and try to beat your average each week etc. i do it haha. i'm pretty anal about my records.

There is Habitat for Humanity. I did that once and it was awesome. I felt really good afterwards and I met so really nice people who care.
